This is a plain-language summary of what PathBrew actually does with your data, written to match the code rather than drafted as a legal document. It is not legal advice.
Using PathBrew without an account
You can generate paths without signing in. Your browser keeps a random identifier in local storage, and when you create a path this way that identifier is sent to our server and stored against the path. It is used for one thing: if you later sign in from the same browser, the paths you made before are attached to your account. Nothing else shows or lists anonymous paths back to you, and there is no way to delete one without an account. Paths created without an account are public and appear in the library — see below.
Creating an account
Signing in requires an email address, either typed directly (we email you a one-time sign-in link) or provided by Google or GitHub if you use one of those options. We use this to identify your account and the paths you own.
What you submit to generate a path
Text you paste, article links you provide, and images you upload are sent to a third-party AI provider to generate the tutorial content. Don't submit anything you don't want processed by an external AI service. For video sources we link out to third-party transcript websites; those are separate sites, opened in a new tab, with their own terms and privacy practices, and we don't see what you do there.
Public paths
Paths are public by default so they can appear in the library, and paths created without an account are always public. A public path's title, content and slides can be viewed by anyone with the link or browsing the library, whether or not they're signed in. If you have an account, you can make a path private when you create it.
IP addresses
We use your IP address to enforce rate limits on how often paths can be generated, and it's recorded if you report a path for review. We don't use it for tracking or advertising.
Analytics
We use Vercel's privacy-friendly web analytics to see aggregate page-view counts. It doesn't use cookies and doesn't track you individually across sites.
What we don't do
We don't sell your data, and we don't run advertising or third-party trackers on this site.
